Raunchy, queer, brash, feminist, trashy, dancy, and just oozing with synths, Peaches took the mashup of techno and synthpop that was happening with acts like I-F and Ladytron and just floored it.
The result is over the top, silly almost...Peaches was fucking serious about how not serious these songs were taking themselves. Tracks like "Fuck the Pain Away", "AA XXX", "Tombstone, Baby" and "Lovertits" (which has a fantastic cover by Feist) are all Electroclash mainstays and all bring a smirk to your face.
Throughout her career, Peaches has seemed to be just on the fringe of mainstream awareness, popping up as a guest on tracks by Christina Aguilera, serving as an opening act for Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson, appearing in Orphan Black, and supplying the theme song for Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.
Today we're listening to Peaches' first two offerings: The Teaches of Peaches (2002) and the follow-up Fatherfucker (2003)
If you haven't been paying attention, these albums are very very very not safe for work.
Enjoy, and please consider sharing with others who may as well.
